Hyperhidrosis
(Excessive sweating)
Hyperhidrosis can be a serious problem affecting work life, social life and relationships. Not only can it leave wet patches and stains on your clothing, it is often associated with unpleasant odour. Thankfully, this problem can be addressed quickly with Botox® treatment.

What causes it?
The process of sweating is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system
which fires when we are in states of high emotion e.g. anxiety or fear.
This system works overtime in some people which results in excessive
sweating. Approximately 1% of the population is affected and it is
slightly more common in females.
How does the treatment work?
Much like treatment for wrinkles, Botox® inhibits chemical messengers
which in this case results in a reduction in sweating. The effects of
the injections take a couple of weeks to become apparent and, again,
the effects are not permanent although can last up to 10 months.
Is it safe?
Millions of Botox® treatments have been performed over more than 30
years with no serious reactions. There may be slight swelling or
redness around the injection site but this does not last long. Areas
can be missed during the treatment and so top up injections may be
required. In a very small number of people, the treatment may not work.
Testimonials
"Having got a new job, I didn't want to constantly be worried about damp patches on my shirt in meetings. The Botox treatment was quick and pretty painless really. And the most important thing is that it worked."
